China has adopted a major revision of its Trademark Law, which will enter into force on 1 January 2027.
For Swiss and international companies doing business in China, the reform brings important changes to the way trademarks are registered, used, protected and enforced. It strengthens measures against bad-faith registrations and trademark hoarding, while introducing new rules on genuine trademark use, damages, fair use and the protection of well-known trademarks.
The Swiss-Chinese Chamber of Commerce – Romandie Chapter is pleased to welcome experts from Wanhuida Intellectual Property, one of China’s leading intellectual property firms, for a practical seminar in Geneva focusing on what these changes mean for international businesses.
The session will also cover recent developments under China’s Anti-Unfair Competition Law and selected landmark cases, providing practical insight into how Chinese courts and authorities are currently addressing trademark infringement, bad-faith filings, brand imitation, online competition and cross-border IP disputes.
